Addison, Texas
Addison, Texas is a suburb of Dalls, about 14 miles North of the big city. It's
only about 16 miles from the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. With a population of
approximately 15,500, Addison has a relatively small number of permanent
residents. However, the population increases during times when people eat out
most often (think lunch time during weekdays and evenings on weekends). This is
due to Addison's reputation as a place filled with restaurants. Whether you're
in the mood for Texas style barbeque or Mongolian, Addison's got a restaurant
that will serve it up for you. Addison is also popular for eating out because of
its lax alcohol laws in comparison to most of its neighbors. Addison has done
well for itself economically, and a number of business have their corporate
headquarters here, including Mary Kay Cosmetics, Pizza Hut, and Palm Harbor
Homes (maker of manufactured and modular homes).
Apartments and Neighborhoods in Addison
There are a large number of renters in Addison, so you'll have plenty of
company. Despite its reputation as a place to go out and dine, Addison does have
plenty of green and recreation space, namely the 372,000 square foot Addison
Circle Park between Addison Road and Quorom Drive North of Belt Line Road. If
being near green is important to you, head in that direction. If you want to be
closer to the center of things, near the numerous restaurants and bars, stick
closer to Belt Line Road itself, which is lined with them. Apartment complexes
in the area include: Post Addison Circle on Addison Circle Road, Rock Creek on
Belt Line Road, and Addison Park on Marsh Lane.
Things to do in Addison
Addison's got all the usual dining, shopping, and recreational opportunities
with a few unique things thrown in. Addison Circle Park actually has three
stages, where you might see an outdoor production of The Music Man or
Shakespearean theatre. If that's not enough theatre for you, try the Water Tower
Theatre. Try visiting the Mary Kay Museum, something you won't find anywhere
else. Addison is also known for certain annual special events, such as the North
Texas Jazz Festival, and "the Mary Kay 5K." But whatever you do, don't miss
Addison's Octoberfest in the fall. It's a good American version of the Munich,
Germany festival.
