Beaverton is a suburb of Portland, Oregon, only about 8 miles east via route 217
and 26. It is also connected the light rail system, called the "MAX," making
public transportation to Portland accessible and convenient via MAX stations at
Beaverton Creek, Beaverton Central, Beaverton Transit Center, and Merlo Road at
Southwest 158th Avenue.
Beaverton has about 77,000 residents, classified mostly as White (about 74%) and
Hispanic (11%), with a good representation of all other racial groups. Beaverton
is economically middle class, with an average household income of about $48,000.
For families, it's around $60,000.
Many people are not commuters to Portland, but live and work right in Beaverton.
It's home to several large corporations, including Nike, Inc., Tektronix
(electronics), IBM's Linux Technology Center, and Reser's Fine Foods.

Things do Do in Beaverton
This area of the country is definitely beautiful, and offers so many
recreational opportunities you might not know where to start. Take an hour's
drive to the beach, and swim or sunbathe your time away, or head an hour in
another direction and hit the ski slopes on the snowy mountains (although you

1,000 acres, encompassing 30 miles of hiking trails and 25 miles of bike paths.
Don't forget to watch some local sports, as some of Beaverton's teams have gone
quite far in their respective local, regional, and national competitions. the
Murrayhill Little League team made it to the Little League World Series in 2006,
and a Junior Softball team made it to their own World Series that same year.
