Harrison Township, Michigan

Harrison Township, not to be confused with a city called Harrison in Clare County, Michigan, is in Macomb County, northeast of Detroit about 25 miles. If you're driving into Detroit, this will take you about 40 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on traffic. The population of Harrison Township is about 23,000.

Most (about 95%) of residents are white, 2% are Hispanic, 3% Black, and about 2% are of mixed racial heritage. Harrison Township is mostly middle class, with an average household income of about  $52,000 and an average family income of about  $67,000.  The school district allows students to attend whichever school they choose, regardless of where they live.

Harrison isn't called "Boat Town" for nothing. Boating is the main recreational activity around here. There are also some parks located along the shoreline, including Metro Beach Metropark near Lake St. Clair. This park has beaches, pools, picnic tables, trails, playgrounds, and a boat dock.
