Clawson, Michigan
Clawson is in the Detroit city region. It's population (about 12,000) and
atmosphere are both small town like. People say that everybody knows everybody.
It's about 17 miles north of Detroit and a 30 minute to an hour's drive,
depending on traffic. It's near the main transportation routes of 75 and 53.
It's near the neighboring communities of Royal Oak, Berkley, Troy, and Ferndale.
Clawson is a slightly diverse and fairly affluent community. About 96% of
residents identify as white, 1% as Hispanic, 1% Asian, less than 1% African
American or Native American, and about 2% mixed. The average income for a
household is about $51,000. For a family, it's about $65,000.
Clawson is known for its July 4th festivals, which are supposedly the best in
the area.
