If you're commuting, the drive may take a little over an hour during rush hour times, but only about 40 minutes during off peak times. The worst traffic is on Barrett Parkway. The population of Kennesaw is about 31,000. It's upper middle class economically, with an average household income of around $60,000, and an average income for families of around $68,000. It's a largely white community (82%), but is somewhat diverse, with a 10% Black population and 6% Hispanic, and 3% Asian.Kennesaw has gotten some attention for being named a "Preserve American Community" by former First Lady Laura Bush. It also received the designation one of the "10 Best Towns For Families" by Family Circle Magazine. For better or worse, it's also received attention for a unique ordinance passed in 1982 which required all heads of household to keep one gun and ammunition. Near Baker Road are Villas at Kennesaw on George Busbee Parkway and The Bridges of Kennesaw on Jiles Road.Things to Do in KennesawKennesaw offers a great hopping off place for day trips to Savannah, Hilton Head, the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and lots of interesting little communities all within half a day's drive. Swift-Cantrell Park has a skateboard park. The Southern Museum of Civi War Locomotive History offers something for historians, civil war nuts, train nuts, or their significant others. All the chain stores you could imagine are available at Town Center Mall and along Barrett Parkway. |
