With a population of about 122,000, Concord is the largest city in Conta Costa
County. Concord is about 30 miles northeast of San Francisco, near the community
of Pleasant Hill and the Concord Naval Weapons Station. Like most of California,
Concord is a fairly diverse and racially mixed community, with about 63% White,
27% Hispanic, 3% Philipino, 3% Black, 2% Chinese, and a good number of folks

San Francisco commutes can be brutal, so if you need to make the commute in, it
may take up to two hours. You'd be smarter to hop on the Bay Area Rapid Transit
(BART) commuter rail, as it will cut your commuter time down to about 45
minutes, and you can use your time more safely and usefully. Concord's main
transportation routes out of the city are 680, 4, and 242.
Apartments and Neighborhoods in Concord
Most residents think of Concord as divided into four areas. The Latino
neighborhood of Four Corners near Monument Blvd and Oak Grove Road, a
residential neighborhood along Clayton Road built in the 70s, an older
residential neighborhood to the north and east of downtown, and the industrial
zone far north of town near the Tesoro Golden Eagle refinery. Most apartments
tend to be near Four Corners and the newer residential area.
Choices include a number of apartment complexes on Laguna Street, such as Amador
Heights and Laguna Ellis Apartments. Ellis Street is also popular for
apartment complexes, including Adobe Lake Apartments and Lakeshore Apartments.
